Singer / Bea Defeats Preliminary Injunction

The Northern District of California ruled today that firm client The Sustainable Aviation Foundation, Inc. and its founder Dr. Brien Seeley may proceed with their Sustainable Aviation Symposium, rejecting a motion for a preliminary injunction filed by plaintiff CAFE Foundation, Inc. The plaintiff sued Sustainable Aviation and Dr. Seeley for trademark infringement, unfair competition, conversion, and a handful of other causes of action, and then moved the Court for a preliminary injunction to prevent Sustainable Aviation from holding its Sustainable Aviation Symposium.  The Court denied Plaintiffs motion on three separate grounds, each of which had been presented by the firm through briefing and again at argument.  The case is CAFE Foundation, Inc. v. Seeley, 3:16-cv-00628-JST (N.D. Cal.).
